Fall Has Arrived on Our Street in Colorado Springs

Disneyland Bound on Spirit Airlines - Cloudy at Venice Beach - Who Cares? Not these three...

Papa took me to the Restore and was teaching me to box.  I gave him a right uppercut and he fell down and knocked his head on a lawn mover - now he has a big ol knot on the back of his head.

He was pretty proud of my sluggin him so hard.  I felt really bad though, knockin him down and all...  He saw how bummed out I was after conkin him out so he took me to DQ - that made things better.

Does a Family Visit to Boston for Linda's Birthday get any more precious than this???   I think not, not, not....   Pops

Kern River Unit Train: Napa Pipe to Pipeline Destination Unknown

How ironic in so many ways...

Back to work at Evraz-PDX in 2021 as a technical consultant.  They put me temporarily - of course,  in Joe Kasten's old office.  A picture now hangs in the office that used to hang in my office at Napa Pipe in CA before it closed down.  (I was fired in 2005.)

I was rehired to work at the new pipe mill in Portland and retired in 2007.  (Not sure where the picture was during that time.)

Now it is year 2021 and the picture has returned to my office.  Amazing indeed!

A Day at the Manitou Arcade and Lunch at the Airplane Restaurant

Who can go to Manitou Springs and pass up the Pinball Arcade.  The Manager said we the oldest Pinball Lizards in there so far this year.

Flying a KC97 Air Force Tanker has always been on our bucket list - so we went to the Academy Aero Club and made it happen.  Here I am getting ready for takeoff.

Joe had to google how to get the landing gear down - we were getting really close to the trees.  He got it though on the second search.  What a pilot that guy is... a natural.
We put the KC on autopilot and went back into the back for lunch.
We made it - it was fun - however I did not estimate the rental cost right.  $25,698 an hour and we flew to Breckinridge and back.  That was a two-hour flight, plus the cost of the burgers...  Oh well, it was on our Bucket List!
Our rental plane in its prime - in the Texas National Guard.  Probably why it kept wanting to turn south every time we got to sightseeing out the front window.

Joe did a couple touch & goes at the airport - this landing was sweet.  Later, instead of using the airport, we found a couple of breaks-in-cars on Powers.  Pretty much right right by our houses.  (We were gonna land on the golf course but it looked a little wet and this is one heavy plane.  Plus we are not that good of pilots to be honest.)

Yaya is Two and We Made the Pool Party!

Incline Hike # 3 of the 2021 Season

We hiked the Incline kind of late in the morning as the early tickets were gone.   It was pretty warm so we went only half way up and then had our 2-mile hike downhill.  Erica and Michael went all the way up in 66 minutes, I am going to try to beat my age in minutes one of these days. (The record climb BTW is 17-18 minutes.)

Linda Purl, Patrick Duffy and Our Famous Neighbor

If you know Linda Purl, Patrick Duffy or our neighbor, you may know at least one of those pretty ladies pictured above.  Everything has 15-seconds of fame:  in this picture, our 1988 Lexus is getting its due, although well in the background, it is certainly providing picture support.

I told our famous neighbor to open our garage door, with our clicker since we are in BNA, and have her celebrity friend's autograph one of our cabinets - which they generously gave us when they updated their garage.  I do not see any autographs, perhaps they signed the Lexus trunk lid, I will have to look.
